Frequently asked questions about Pokémon

Everything you need to know before buying or selling pokémon on Blisterr.

  • How can I check a Pokémon card is genuine before buying?
Every seller application is reviewed manually by Blisterr, but checking authenticity starts with you. For a valuable card, ask for a video (a Peek, or the seller’s live) or choose a card graded by a recognised company. Check the print, the colours and the feel of the card, and compare it with a genuine copy from the same set. The 30-day buyer protection covers a proven counterfeit.
  • PSA, BGS, CGC: what is the difference for Pokémon cards?
They are three independent grading companies, each with its own scale and case. PSA gives an overall grade from 1 to 10, BGS details four sub-grades (centering, corners, edges, surface) and CGC applies its own scale. The same card can receive different grades depending on the company: compare grades from the same company and check the certification number on its website.
  • How do I ship valuable Pokémon cards without damaging them?
Slide the card into a sleeve, then into a toploader, and protect the whole with bubble wrap in a rigid mailer or a small box. For a valuable card, choose a tracked and insured shipping option matching its value: labels are generated through Sendcloud, but the declared value is the seller’s responsibility. Check the carrier’s compensation limits before shipping.
  • What are the fees for buying a Pokémon card on Blisterr?
You pay the item price, the buyer protection fee (6.9% of the item price, shipping excluded, + €0.49 once per order with the same seller) and delivery. The seller pays no commission. Details are in the FAQ.
  • Raw or graded cards: which should I choose to start a collection?
Raw (ungraded) cards generally cost less and can be handled: it is the most common choice for completing a set. Graded cards are protected in their case and their condition is certified by a third-party company: they suit iconic pieces or resale. In both cases, look at the video or at sharp photos before buying.

About Pokémon on Blisterr

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is one of the most popular collectible card games in the world. Created in Japan in 1996, it reached the West in 1999 with the Base Set, then kept releasing expansions: Jungle, Fossil, Team Rocket, the Neo, EX, Diamond & Pearl blocks, all the way to the most recent series. Every generation has its own iconic cards, artwork and print runs.

A few checkpoints apply to every card: the card's name and number, printed at the bottom of the card, its expansion, its language (French, English, Japanese), its rarity and whether it has a holographic effect. Between two versions of the same card (a first edition of an older series, a reprint, a Japanese version), the gap in value can be significant, so always check the version before bidding.

Graded cards are assessed and sealed in a case by a third-party company such as PSA, Beckett (BGS) or CGC. Each company uses its own scale: compare grades from the same company, and check the certification number on its website. At Beckett, the final grade comes with four sub-grades (centering, corners, edges, surface). Ungraded cards (raw) remain the most affordable: ask for sharp photos or a video to check corners, edges and surface.

On Blisterr, Peeks and lives let you see a card in motion: the holographic effect, the shine and the real condition of the edges are easier to judge on video than in a photo. You can buy with instant buy, a classic or silent auction, a Drop, or join a giveaway. Every seller application is reviewed manually by our team, and the 30-day buyer protection covers an item that never arrives, does not match its description or is a proven counterfeit.

Counterfeits exist on the Pokémon market, and some are very well made. For a valuable piece, favor a graded card or ask for a video before buying, and keep your conversations with the seller on the platform.
