Frequently asked questions about Pop Art

Everything you need to know before buying or selling pop art on Blisterr.

  • What is the difference between a screen print and a print?
A screen print is made colour by colour through a screen, often by hand. A print is a broader term for an impression, sometimes digital or offset. The technique, numbering and edition size must appear in the listing.
  • How do I check the authenticity of a limited edition artwork?
Ask for the numbering (for example 12/100), the signature, the certificate of authenticity issued by the artist or the publisher and the provenance of the artwork. Look at them on video if possible, and keep your exchanges with the seller on the platform.
  • How do I ship an artwork on paper?
Protect the print flat between two rigid cardboards, or rolled in a sturdy tube when the paper allows it, avoiding any fold. Choose a tracked shipping option matching the value of the artwork: the declared value is the seller’s responsibility.
  • What are the fees for buying a pop art piece on Blisterr?
You pay the item price, the buyer protection fee (6.9% of the item price, shipping excluded, + €0.49 once per order with the same seller) and delivery. The seller pays no commission. Details are in the FAQ.

About Pop Art on Blisterr

Pop art emerged in the 1950s and 1960s by drawing on popular culture: advertising, comics, cinema, everyday objects. That heritage now feeds a market of screen prints, prints and limited editions inspired by pop culture, which enthusiasts collect to decorate their homes as much as for the signature that comes with them.

Before buying, it helps to understand what you are looking at. A screen print (serigraph) is an impression made color by color, through a screen, often by hand. A print more broadly designates an impression, sometimes digital or offset. A limited edition work is printed in an announced number of copies and numbered (for example 12/100): the shorter the run, the rarer each copy. The numbering, signature and print run mentions should appear in the listing.

Proof of authenticity matters a lot: a certificate of authenticity issued by the artist or the publisher, a visible signature and numbering in the photo, and the provenance of the work. Ask the seller for them and look at them on video if possible. Condition is judged on the paper: creases, stains, foxing, damaged edges or colors faded by light. Also state the dimensions and the medium, with or without a frame.

Shipping a work on paper requires care: a print is protected flat between two rigid cardboards, or rolled in a sturdy tube when the paper allows it. Avoid any crease, and choose a tracked shipping option suited to the value of the work: the declared value is the seller's responsibility.

On Blisterr, you can buy with instant buy, a classic or silent auction, a Drop, or join a giveaway, in a video Peek or during a live. Video is useful to judge colors, paper and finishes. Every seller application is reviewed manually by our team, and the 30-day buyer protection covers an item that never arrives, does not match its description or is a proven counterfeit. Card payments are processed by Stripe.
